Late Work Policy
Late work is unacceptable because it is a violation of the school’s core value of honor. All scholars are expected to have their assignments on time. It is highly recommended that scholars complete assignments early, which could allow them to get feedback from peers or the teacher before a final grade is assigned. If a scholar fails to complete an assignment, he or she will receive a deduction of 5 points for every late day. After assignments are more than 6 days late, the highest grade possible is a 70%, considering the assignment is done correctly without any mistakes.
Make Up Work Policy
Previously assigned work-
-
Students must submit previously assigned work by the end of the first day of their return to school.
-
Students must be prepared to complete any quizzes, tests, or presentations at the start of the next class they attend; however, teachers may choose to schedule the make-up work for a time outside of the class.
Any work missed during an excused absence-
-
Unless special arrangements have been made, students have one week (5 days) from the last day of the absence to submit make-up work without penalty.
-
Students must retrieved missed assignments before school, during lunch, or after school. Students are not allowed to disturb instruction to retrieve make-up work.
-
Students who do not meet the make-up work policy will be referred to the late-work policy
*If a pattern of absences appears on days when larger assignments are due or when assessments are given, the student may be subject to administrative action.
Homework Work Policy
The purpose of homework is to provide additional practice for the lesson taught in class. Homework is a vital part of success in the class. As a result, your homework should be neatly written in pen, complete with date and all the necessary steps you took to arrive at your final answer. The final answer should be written in complete sentences. Please note that homework will be collected during the Bell Ringer of every class period. Failure to complete homework may result in disciplinary actions such as lunch or after-school tutorial to complete the homework assignments.
Contacting the Teacher and Tutoring
Extra help should be initiated by the student and is available upon request after school during tutoring hours or will be appointed to students when intervention is needed. Students should notify the teacher in advance if they would like extra help by signing up for a designated spot. Do not wait too long before asking for extra help. Your student's grades, attendance, and discipline records are also available on the Internet via eschools. Parents can gain access to Parent Connect through the student services office to see students’ current performance in the class. Free Internet is available at most libraries.
